AB - Acculturation is a broad
concept that refers to changes that occur as a result of intercultural contact.
Rudmin (2009) summarises acculturation, for example, as the appropriation of a
second culture. The scales for recording the acculturation orientation of
migrants (AKOrM) record the extent to which the behavioural repertoire is
oriented towards German culture or culture of origin. A two-dimensional model
is assumed in which the acculturation process takes place in two dimensions:
The retention of the culture of origin or the adaptation to the host culture
can take place independently of each other. The scales for acculturation
orientation are a German adaptation of the Vancouver Index of Acculturation by
Ryder, Alden and Paulhus (2000).
