The instrument documented here corresponds to a transformation of the Whiteley Index developed for the English-speaking world into the German language. With 14 dichotomous items (no vs. yes) it aims to capture hypochondriac attitudes and convictions in order to identify persons suspected of having hypochondria at an early stage and to provide them with specialized treatment. The Whiteley Index has been translated into several languages. It is often used.
