This short scale measures the multidimensional construct of belonging to one’s own study program. The construct describes the need to feel socially and emotionally connected to one’s own study program, to identify with it, and to feel a sense of well-being in its community. The scale contains eight items, each of which is answered on a six-point Likert scale. With the help of two surveys, the factorial validity of the short scale could be confirmed, the reliability could be rated as good. Similar results in the literature indicate the content validity of the short scale. The results of the divergent and convergent construct validity, as well as those of the criterion validity, suggest a valid measurement instrument. The short scale was designed for students and can be used in online teaching.
