The questionnaire measures the tendency towards performance motivation. Modick divides the construct into the three factors "Hope for Success", "Fear of Failure" and "General Need for Performance". The development of the scale is based on the works of Alpert and Haber (1960), Heckhausen (1963, 1965), and Hermans (1968).
