AB - This scale measures the respondents‘ ideological profile. The special focus is to examine the com-plexity of people’s individual ideological predispositions and to enable researchers to compare ideo-logical groups (e.g., in attitude research or studies about social milieus). To do this, respondents are given a score in four subdimensions: Economic libertarianism, conservatism, socialism, liberalism. These four subdimensions represent the four central ideologies in the western world. The scale was theoretically derived from the distinction between economic and social-cultural ideologies – a distinc-tion that is empirically confirmed in many studies in political science. It was already in use in the Aus-trian version of the second wave of the Values in Crisis Survey.
