AB - <p>The authoritarianism scale of Oesterreich (1974) corresponds to a combination of two subscales. The first subscale (Item 1 to Item 17) is to measure rigidity, the second dogmatism (Items 18 to Item 41). In the 1990s, the author developed a fundamentally revised instrument for recording authoritarian character traits. Detailed information on its theoretical foundation and its psychometric characteristics can be found in Oesterreich (1998). Some of the items from the revised instrument were also used in 1994 in a study on violence among young people at the University of Bielefeld.</p>
