AB - The feedback tool for Rescue Force Development - Basic Training (FIRE-B) is used to measure the perceived quality of firefighter training at community and district level. Participants of these training courses at the voluntary fire brigade and the professional fire brigade are interviewed. The instrument is based on a qualitative analysis of characteristics of a good basic training with the fire brigade (N = 21) as well as on scales which are used for the evaluation of management training with the fire brigade or for the teaching evaluation at universities. The FIRE-B was tested and validated on the basis of two random samples (total = 708) with participants from various basic fire brigade training courses. Factor analyses show a six-factor questionnaire structure (structure & didactics, support & promotion, group, practice, material & premises, competence acquisition). The scales are to be judged as reliable. In addition, there are indications of content, construct and criterion validity.
