AB - The items of the present short scale Social Dominance Orientation (KSDO-3) were developed by the <i>Austrian National Election Study</i> (AUTNES) 2017 for general population surveys. The scale has further been used in surveys of the <i>Platform for Surveys, Methods and Empirical Analyses</i> (PUMA). The scale KSDO-3 represents a very parsimonious measure of Social Dominance Orientation (SDO; Pratto et al., 1994) which is suitable for multi-topic surveys. The items are based on a translation of items in the SDO₇scale by Ho et al. (2015). The KSDO-3 scale is considered suitable for group comparisons and correlational studies in different modes, yet not for individual assessment scores. Reliability was lowest among lower educated respondents, especially in the CAWI mode (sample 3). Application of the scale in the aforementioned group together with being interviewed in CAWI is therefore not recommended.
