AB - The article presents a measuring instrument for the multidimensional recording of the perception of study requirements. The instrument was developed on the basis of two qualitative preliminary studies that examine challenges in the initial study phase (Bosse & Trautwein, 2014; Trautwein & Bosse, 2017). The test analyses were carried out with a total sample of N = 1907 students from various Bachelor's degree programmes at four universities. The final version of the measuring instrument comprises 21 items. The explorative factor analysis shows a six factor structure, which was confirmed by a confirmatory factor analysis. Overall, the subscales show a moderate to satisfactory measurement accuracy. Significant correlations with study success criteria provide indications of criterion validity of the developed measuring instrument.
