AB - This publication proposes a measuring instrument for the multidimensional recording of the tendency of dual students to drop out of university. However, parts of this instrument can also be used for "traditional" students. The basis was an instrument for recording the tendency of trainees to drop out (Deuer, 2006). As part of the research project "Course of studies - setting the course, success criteria and hurdles in the course of dual studies at the DHBW", the instrument was adapted to dual students (Deuer et al., 2017). The test analysis is based on first-year students who took part in the second panel wave (March 2017) and has a sample size of N = 1429 dual students from the three study areas of social work, technology and economics at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW). The current version of the measuring instrument is based on 8 items. The explorative factor analysis shows a two-factor structure and was confirmed by a confirmatory factor analysis. Overall, the subscales can show a good measurement accuracy. The verification of the prognostic validity is based on the actual drop-outs, on university administration data 22 months after the data collection (January 2019), based on Receiver-Operating-Characteristic curves (ROC curves), and shows acceptable values.
