AB - The 10-item scale measures%0Athe tendency to believe in supernatural entities such as immaterial agents%2C afterlife%2Fotherworld%0Aplaces%2C and miraculous earthly events. The scale is intended to be a valid%0Aindicator of the cognitive component of religiosity%2C capturing ten%0Across-cultural beliefs that appear as religious themes in various religious%0Acontexts in the world. The scale was first tested in English by Jong%2C Bluemke%2C%0A%26amp%3B Halberstadt %282013%29. The SBS aims to be applicable to people of different%0Areligious standing %28atheists and believers alike%29%2C across various countries%2C%0Awith a multitude of religious backgrounds%2C if necessary by adapting the labels%0Apertaining to the supernatural entities%2C while not altering the essence of the%0Aitem content or response format. After its seminal application in New Zealand%2C%0Aand later in Croatia%2C among student samples with mostly a Christian cultural background%2C%0Ait was applied in Germany%2C yielding good reliability%2C a replicable factor%0Astructure%2C and cross-cultural measurement invariance %28strict invariance across%0AGermans and New Zealanders%29. The scale showed signs of construct validity and%0Acriterion validity in all samples %28NZ%2C CRO%2C GER%29.
